Some days the ball just won't go in the net. Fine football was played today on the new Clerihan pitch. Passing, moving, tackling, closing down, crossing. Seldom, if ever, has our goalkeeper had so little to do. 9 kick outs, 3 corners and 1 save. Todays defenders of James (Captain), Bryan, Colm, and Nick were the main reason Wojtek had so little to do. Closing down and tackling and then passing to create attacking opportunities and bringing in the 4 midfielders of Michael, Mikey, Kevin and Stephen. Their passing and communication is improving with every game. Making life difficult for the Clerihan forwards was Liam and Barry whose running, crossing and shooting was first class today. With some of these players new to each other, more games will have them worrking better as a unit. Clerihan battled away all day and for their efforts received a hard earned point. The keeper in particular had a good day between the sticks. Another day and 4 or 5 would have found the back of the net. Well done to all the lads on playing quality football today.
